Launch task scheduler and press create task on the right. To counteract this, I configured in task scheduler a task which kills and restarts iCUE shortly later after logon. I've identified that for maybe 25% of reboots, iCUE will initialise before the lighting driver does, and therefore not apply the RGB correctly. A new device titled 'ASUS GPU: VGA 1' Should appear in iCUE.Ĭongratulations you should now be able to control your RGB via iCUE without all the overhead!Įdit: What to do if the ASUS device sometimes doesn't appear in iCUE after reboot and the RGB doesn't work: Run both of these installers, and restart iCUE. (In this second folder there are also exes for other ASUS hardware - these steps may work for other components too but I cannot test.) Lighting_Control_1.07.84.zip\Lighting_Control_1.07.84\LightingService\LSInstall\aac\AacVGASetup.exe Lighting_Control_1.07.84.zip\Lighting_Control_1.07.84\LightingService\LSInstall\AuraServiceSetup.exe Once you've got this Lighting Control zip, we need to find two exe files inside, and the rest can be entirely discarded. This is what we want to download - not the larger links above. By visiting the ASUS RGB download page you will see at the bottom a small link to "The standalone version of Aura Sync". We simply need to install two exe's found in ASUS's 'Lighting Control' zip. In addition to iCUE obviously, you actually only need to install 2 very small packages of the whole ASUS RGB suite to make your GPU RGB work. They are the 2 at the bottom of the post. If you're already affected by bloatware, I found two different ASUS-provided uninstallers online which should mostly remove all the ASUS crud off your sysytem. ![]() So, I spent some time installing, uninstalling, and forcefully deleting various elements of the software to work out exactly what was needed to install to control ASUS GPU RGB via iCUE, without the whole ASUS bloatware fest. Unfortunately, we still needed ASUS software present to enable this link. Thankfully, recently Corsair enabled support for ASUS GPUs via their iCUE software - something I'm much more comfortable using. The heavier software such as Armoury Crate is even worse. It's an awful experience getting it to work, and the worst part is the bloatware it comes with! Just trying to install "lighting control" gives you multiple different running background ASUS services, and a running component for pretty much every single piece of hardware they offer! I shouldn't need DRAM RGB control if I don't need it. It's all over the place in different forms, including "lighting control", "Aura", "Aura Sync", "Aura Creator" and finally "Armoury Crate". You may have noticed that the provided software for controlling the RGB of ASUS hardware is - frankly - terrible. Please feel free to try the below, but I can no longer guarantee success. Update: As of 28th June 2022, Windows 10 update KB5014666, my GPU has stopped being visible to iCUE again on my machine. ![]()
